She is currently studying with Ann Ellsworth at NYU Steinhardt. She has studied with bassoonists Cindy Lauda and Leonard Hindel, and is currently working with Gina Cuffari while earning her Bachelor's degree in bassoon performance at NYU Steinhart.Īmanda Tabor specializes in contemporary and experimental horn and has earned degrees from California Institute of the Arts (BFA, 2005) and the University of California, San Diego (MA, 2008) in that subject.

Jordana has also recently performed at the Apollo Theater. She plays in the NYU orchestra and chamber music programs and has participated in her high school music program and summer music workshops. Jordana Schacht-Levine has performed multiple times at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall with the Great Neck North High School orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. She has interned with Alarm Will Sound, the New York City Opera, and the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York.

Plotkin performed Mozart's Clarinet Concerto with the Dickinson College Community Orchestra and played in her own Junior and Senior Recitals. Plotkin quickly became engaged in the music department, helping to form a clarinet ensemble and woodwind quintet and was instrumental in both planning and playing in the quintet's full-length recital. She recently graduated with honors from Dickinson College with a Bachelor's degree in Clarinet Performance. Her current focus is finishing her degree and spreading her love of music through education.Įlyssa Plotkin is currently earning her Master's degree in Performing Arts Administration from New York University and interning with Lincoln Center's Chamber Music Society. She has played and recorded with the New York City-based band, Random Avenue. In addition to the oboe, Amy plays the 'ukulele and is a former instructor for the Roy Sakuma 'Ukulele Studio in O'ahu, Hawai'i. Yamashiro has played both oboe and English horn with the Henderson Symphony, the UNLV Wind Orchestra, and the UNLV Symphony Orchestra. She previously attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she studied under Dr. Bradley Garner.Īmy Yamashiro is currently earning her Bachelor's of Arts in Music Education at New York University where she is studying oboe with Matt Sullivan. Freitag is pursuing her Master's degree at New York University in Music Performance and is studying with Dr. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fredonia State with Bachelor degrees in Music Performance and Music Business. Freitag recently won New York University's Wind Concerto Competition and will be performing with the NYU orchestra in late October with the Foss Renaissance Concerto. She has performed in several of the world's greatest venues including Carnegie Hall, Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood and the Apollo Theater. They have performed at the Patchogue Theater, Affair on 8th and Caffe Vivaldi.įlutist Caryn Freitag is an avid solo and ensemble performer. Washington Square Winds embraces repertoire ranging from Haydn to Joplin to Milhaud to the Beatles, and is available for special events, gallery openings, cafes, restaurants, and educational settings. The musicians, however, are all connected through their passion for and study of music at New York University. Every member contributes a specific skill to the group, such as music performance, education, and administration. The ensemble's mission is to spread this message of unity through music by presenting engaging concerts and educational programs.Washington Square Winds was formed in 2009 by five highly trained musicians seeking additional opportunities to perform chamber music. Just as Washington Square Park brings the NYU community together, Washington Square Winds strives to inspire connection and teamwork through their music.

Washington Square Winds is a New York based woodwind quintet dedicated to creating connections between both musicians and audience members through exceptional chamber music. After the concert, the audience will be invited to attend a reception for the Frances Campani art exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Village Center. There will be a $5 per person donation at the door. This lovely intimate room combines good acoustics with a spectacular view of Port Jefferson Harbor.

Washington Square Winds will present a recital showcasing their broad repertoire in the Harbor/ Cove Room on the 3rd floor of the Port Jeff Village Center. These exciting young musicians are rapidly making a name for themselves as advocates of popular music spanning the centuries. The Greater Port Jefferson - Northern Brookhaven Arts Council (GPJAC) is very proud to present a concert with the young classical ensemble Washington Square Winds at the Port Jefferson Village Center on Sunday, Apat 3:00 PM.
